The Gulf of Mexico and surrounding areas are likely to be affected for decades because of the BP oil spill. New Orleans even more difficulties consider the towboat, Pere Ana C, hit an oil rig and created another oil spill, reports the Associated Press. The boat is said to have struck a wellhead in Louisiana marshland. Oil is at the moment shooting 20 feet to the air, Plaquemines Parish President Billy Nungesser told MSNBC.
Find this well south of New Orleans
The gushing oil well is located in an inland waterway along the border between Plaquemines Parish and Jefferson Parish, approximately 65 miles south of New Orleans. You can’t get to this place on roads. Oil from the Deepwater Horizon disaster in the Gulf of Mexico was being moved meaning there were already workers in Barataria Bay. Right now, it hasn’t been reported who owns this well. Jefferson Parish Councilman Chris Roberts explains that there is quite a bit of oil coming from the Pere Ana C. collision. Since you are able to only get to the area on a boat, not much is known about the recovery or how much is leaking. There is a concern that natural gas can be leaking with the oil since some gas clouds are reported within the area recently.
Near Mud Lake Pere Ana C. struck
Tuesday Morning, the Pere Ana C. collision happened pretty close to Mud Lake. After the accident, the Coast Guard ship was moved to the LaRose area. Right now, we have heard of no injuries. Authorities are trying to someone that is responsible to clean up all of this oil that is causing disaster. Nobody knows if this spill is as costly as the BP spill with Deepwater Horizon.
